Louise & Stephen, Kilkenny Castle Wedding, Newpark Kilkenny Wedding Photography

Ok ok... I know... I'm so behind on my blogging but I'm making up for it this year. I promise.

So here we have Louise & Stephen who got married last may in Kilkenny Castle. You can imagine my excitement went Louise emailed to enquire about my availability for their wedding. A castle, Kilkenny Castle no less. My excitement only heightened when I met the guys, we just clicked, it was like we'd been friends for years. Louise shares my passion for photography and wanted an album but also wanted to be able to make her own albums afterwards. You'll see from the photos she's a very creative lady (I think she gets it from her mother).

The big day in May dawned and guess what? It rained, and rained and rained. That didn't dampen Louise and Stephen's spirits. I dropped Kevin Curry (second shooter extraordinaire) off with the boys with Stephen and I headed off to Louise's house. The house... my god the house. Her mother and father have done an epic job on the house. It's a photographers dream, and the light... swoon.

Anyway... a little bit about the couple.

Louise & Stephen first met by chance when Louise was placed in Stephen's workplace as part of a college internship. Once Louise went back to college, our brave Stephen worked up the courage to ask her out. 2 years later while Louise was away in San Diego for 3 months with work Steve worked up the courage, surrounded by golden sand, palm trees and dolphins swimming, and asked Louise for her hand in marriage. Needless to say, she was shocked, it took her a while but she finally blurted out the magic word. That was in 2010, they decided to wait until 2014 to tie the knot.

The day itself didn't have a set theme, it evolved from their personalities. As they where getting married in the Parade Tower in Kilkenny Castle they wanted to keep the styling quite classic and let the castle speak for itself. Both are huge music fans and this featured strongly during the ceremony and the reception. The walked down the aisle to Nirvana's Lithium played by a string quartet! Tables where named after their favourite bands and their first dance was a very unconventional Queens of the Stone Age "I wanna make it with you". Combined with Louise's DIY projects, such as the invites, and her mother's epic flair for all things vintage, it made for a pretty spectacular wedding day.

  1. Castel wedding! That sounds interesting. This couple made a prefect decision by selecting this wonderful venue. Hey, my Malibu wedding venue was also glorious. They had provided amazing services. Everyone enjoyed a lot in our wedding ceremony.
